New Commandment of Love and Believe.

1 John 2:7 NASB95
Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard.

Some people think that because we live under grace and no longer believe in the necessity of the 613 laws of Moses in our life. They assume that we will live an immoral life because we seem not to have rules to keep. Paul in Romans 6:2 enthusiastically debunk the assumption by saying:

Romans 6:1-2 NASB95
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? [2] May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

Paul said we died to sin that is why we are living in Grace with a brand new spirit and an obedient heart. What does the new and obedient heart obey? It obeys the new commandment of Jesus to love and believe. What then is the difference from that of the old law? Well, to begin with it is no longer a law it has been imprinted in your heart as part of the new you. Our obedience from the heart means that we can trust Christ and His finished work for who we became today in Him.

1 John 2:8-14 NASB95
On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining. [9] The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. [10] The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him. [11] But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes. [12] I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name's sake. [13] I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. [14] I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

Verse 8 says that... the true Light is already shining.Jesus is the true Light.
Verse 9 says that...hate is not part of our new identity. We are compatible to love.
Verse 10 says that...for you not to stumble get the grip on who you really are from the heart. You love your Brothers.
Verse 11 says that...unbelievers are in darkness. They are champions in doing wrong. They wake up thinking of what sin to do next. Do we think that way? Definitely not! We are dead to sin!
Verse 12 says that...because we are in Christ we are forgiven and we can trust God for who we became in Christ. The New Creation.
Verse 13and 14 says that...fathers, young men, children because you are in Christ you have overcome the evil one. What a relief to know that we don't need to walk in eggshells scared and trembling because of the fear that the enemy can smash our belief in God.

What's the Big Picture?
The law that was given to Moses was Holy but at this side of the cross it was never our email.
The law is Holy we can show reverence to it by saying 613 laws thou art Holy but I cannot fulfill it. Father thank you for Sending Jesus who was the end of the law(Romans7).
Believers are New Creations in Christ with an Identity designed to obey from the heart(trust) who Christ said we are today.
Although we are no longer under the law because Jesus was the end of the law. The new commandments of LOVE AND BELIEVE has been written in the hearts of every New Creation in Christ.
Finally the north of my moral compass is not rule keeping it is allowing Christ to Rule in me.
